by Kaia Santos One The little girl who swivels around on her father's chair, she tries to get off but cannot reach the floor. The door of her dads office cracks open. Joy flows from her fingers all the way to her toes, it could only mean one thing, Her father steps foot into the office. A smile as big and bright as the sun sweeps the little girl's face. She runs to the back where she knows fun is waiting. She is a cheetah sprinting to the back of her dad's shop. Sunshine warms her face as she takes her first step outdoors. She stops abruptly almost stumbling on the floor. Still with the smile that looks too big and almost heavy for her face, stands tall in front of a tree. Her dad follows behind her. They give eachother a look, a look only the two of them understand..a look of pure bliss. A look they give only one occasion, a look they give when they know that they would be building a treehouse. Two The girl hops into the car almost able to set her feet on the floor, her dad jumps unto to his seat seconds after she shuts her door. They smile and give each other a look, a look only the two of them understand... a look of pure excitement, a look they give for only one occasion, a look they give when they know they're going on an adventure. She rolls down the window. A fresh breeze hits her face and runs through her hair. She feels happy, the thought of not knowing where she is going makes her feel alive. The sound of the ocean waves crashing against the shore grows louder and louder. Warm sand kisses her feet as she runs to the shore. The warmth covering her feet is instantly replaced by the salty, cold, ocean water. Three The now older girl, the one who once was too small to reach the floor sits side to side with her dad. The sound of wind runs through their ears. They don't say anything...they don’t need to. They give eachother a look, a look only the two of them understand..a look that makes the two feel content. A look you give when you love someone. |
