Alex Naranjo
by Riley Hernandez His name is Alex Naranjo. He wears black glasses on his nose. He carries a backpack on his shoulders. He displays the time with his white watch on his left hand. His name is Alex Naranjo. I knew nothing about him but his name before we met. I never knew he had an older sister. I never knew his mom owned a daycare. To be honest, I couldn’t even pronounce his last name. His name is Alex Naranjo. When we talked, he spoke for five minutes straight. He barely even took a breath, yet his voice was steady. I learned he likes to listen to rap. I learned he has a delicate knee. His name is Alex Naranjo. When he finished talking we sat in silence. Then I asked “What do you want to be when you grow up?” In an instant, his eyes lit up and was present. “A computer engineer,” he said, and then went on for another 5 minutes. His name is Alex Naranjo. He sees a successful future through his black glasses. He carries the weight of his career in his backpack He keeps track of his time on earth with his white watch. And his name is Alex Naranjo. |
